Organisational and Institutional Members of the FORUM
In the Articles of Association of EABP. it states that: "Members may also be natural or corporate bodies and reciprocal membership agreements may be concluded with corporate bodies having identical aims." These proposals for a FORUM of European Organisations in Body-Psychotherapy were passed at the General Assembly in Pamhagen, Austria in May 1997. They were subsequently ratified at the 1999 EABP General Assembly, where The FORUM of Body-Psychoterapy Organisations was given a definite mandate to accredit Training Schools in Body-Psychotherapy.
A corporate body or organisation (such as a Training School or a Professional Association in a particular country or city) or a European-wide Institution (such as a collection of Trainings) which wishes to be involved in a FORUM for Body-Psychotherapy with EABP would have to fulfil the following criteria:
- It must (i) recognise the EABP Definition of Body-Psychotherapy and the work of a Body-Psychotherapist, (check here) and (ii) basically support the aims and objectives of EABP (check here) and (iii) be actively working in Body-Psychotherapy.
- If it is a Training School it should have been in existence for about 4 years (i.e. have a minimum of one crop of graduates for a training organisation); have a legal organisational or corporate structure with an appropriate code of ethics and complaints procedure (so that there is a level of accountability); and have at least 10 people involved (i.e. not be just 1 or 2 people and an office). It will pay an annual FORUM Fee 270 Euros (including the 190 Euro organisational fee).
- In the case of a Professional Association of practicing Body-Psychotherapists (as in a particular country or city), all the practitioners involved should be able to fulfil the Membership Conditions for EABP, or have similar standards if they are working in a different professional field. It will pay an annual Orgganisational Membership Fee of 190 Euros.
- European Wide Institutional Members (from a particular modality within Body-Psychotherapy) with a large membership of their own should have compatible Membership Criteria and Professional Standards with EABP. Individuals, within this Institutional Membership, should be able by-and-large to become Individual Members of EABP if they so wish without doing any more professional training. .
- Such Organisational Members of EABP (and thus also members of this FORUM) will supply EABP with a list of its individual members' names and addresses, and pay their annual Membership Fees promptly. This Membership Fee is set to cover the administration costs of The FORUM, which are considerable.
They may already be an organisational member of an EABP National Association (or Committee) in a particular country. In which case, 40% of this fee would thus go to the National Association, (or 20% to that country's National Committee). They would not have to pay a second annual Membership Fee.
An Institutional Member with members in more than one European country would supply EABP with a list of its individual members' names and addresses and details of the various training schools in each country.
- At least one person in the organisation (School, Association or European Wide Institution) must be an Individual Member of EABP and can therefore directly represent that School, Association or Institution at the EABP General Assembly; put motions to the General Assembly on behalf of the School, Association or Institution; and vote.
Upto 2 other members of a School or Association, or upto 3 members of an Institution may also attend the EABP General Assembly (at their own cost) even though they are not EABP Individual Members and must suitably identify themselves as such and during discussions of matters directly pertaining to Schools or Associations or Institutions may be invited to speak by the Chairperson of the Meeting, but they will have no voting rights.
- In return for their Membership Fee, a School or Association will receive 10 copies of all EABP mailings and an invitation sent upto 2 delegates to take part in an annual FORUM. Institutions will receive 20 copies of all mailings and an invitation send upto 3 delegates to take part in an annual FORUM.
- This annual FORUM will be a week-end at a central european location where issues pertaining to Schools, Associations & Institutional Membership involvements will be discussed. It will be organised by EABP and the costs (of conference room, tea, coffee etc.) for the week-end will be carried by EABP. This does not include the travel, accommodation and main meals for any of the participants. The FORUM will be co- chaired by a member of the FORUM and it's elected representative to the EABP Board.
- Motions or resolutions passed at these Forums will be taken directly to the Board of EABP who are advised to take cognisance of these opinions and to respond suitably. These FORUMs will not replace the E.A.B.P. General Assembly.
- The implementation of EABP Training Standards; relationships with the European Association for Psychotherapy and National Umbrella Organisations; Codes of Ethics, Complaints etc. for Organisations; the eventual EABP Accreditation of Body-Psychotherapy Training Schools; research programmes and the scientific validation process for Body-Psychotherapy; an Academy for Body-Psychotherapy; a Journal for Body-Psychotherapy; are all issues that might be fruitfully discussed at these FORUMs.
- No ammendments to the Articles of Association of EABP are needed to implement these proposals.
An Application Form for organisational Membership is available.
