Abstract

Presents a framework for a employer-sponsored health promotion that would summarise major issues related to employee mental health and suggests research priorities in this area. A program of mental health promotion is suggested that would include the following approaches: communication skills training, attention to management style, jobs construction, and drug abuse prevention and control. It is noted that stress management is only one of the programs that can assist in promoting employee mental health. Challenges facing formal stress management programs are discussed.
